Gatsby Benchmarks

As of September 2018 the DFE stated that all education providers were required to be actively working towards the Gatsby benchmarks. The eight benchmarks were put together by the Gatsby foundation, to ensure that young people and learners are well informed about pathways and career sectors enabling them to access the world of work and be successful.

Life Ready, Work Ready actively work to support all stakeholders in meeting all eight benchmarks in a meaningful way. Enterprise Coordinators are allocated to Shropshire & Telford & Wrekin to work with schools and colleges, to identify ways in which the benchmarks can be met.

Working towards the Gatsby benchmarks, provides young people with a high quality careers programme that allows young people to identify the best options and pathways to suit their skill sets. This will result in raised aspirations and attainment.

  1. A stable careers programme
  2. Learning from career and labour market information
  3. Addressing the needs of each pupil
  4. Linking curriculum learning to careers
  5. Encounters with employers and employees
  6. Experiences of workplaces
  7. Encounters with further and higher education
  8. Personal guidance
